Joint Distributions of Weighted Medians on Overlapping Windows in Image Analysis
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper, we derive the joint distribution function of the output of weighted median lters with independent but not identically distributed inputs on overlapping windows which may contain an image feature such as a line or edge. These results are used to derive the probability distributions of the diierence between the weighted medians calculated on two adjacent overlapping windows. As an illustration , these latter distributions are used to compute the power functions for detecting a step change in the image for a variety of range of existing weighting schemes. These comparisons demonstrate that optimal structure preserving weighting schemes are not optimal in terms of power to detect an edge in the presence of noise.

A probabilistic topic model assumes that documents are generated through a process involving topics and then tries to reverse this process, given the documents and extract topics. A topic is usually assumed to be a distribution over words. LDA is one of the first and most popular topic models introduced so far. In the document generation process assumed by LDA, each document is a distribution o...
متن کاملSample-oriented Domain Adaptation for Image Classification
Image processing is a method to perform some operations on an image, in order to get an enhanced image or to extract some useful information from it. The conventional image processing algorithms cannot perform well in scenarios where the training images (source domain) that are used to learn the model have a different distribution with test images (target domain). Also, many real world applicat...
متن کاملFrequency Properties of Two-Dimensional Median Windows - Phase and Amplitude Responses
The use of medians as filtering windows in digital signal processing is known since many years and applied especially when linear filters could not be used, because of specific character of disturbances which are to be removed. This is the case, if, for instance, impulsive disturbances, having very wide spectra, are observed, and linear filters are not suitable for their elimination. Median pro...
متن کاملMix-distribution modeling for overcomplete denoising
Localized or windowed data denoising based on linear transforms equipped with some thresholding operator is a usual approach in modern signal and image processing. With overlapping windows, techniques of this kind can be interpreted as overcomplete (redundant) data transforms (representations). In the simplest formulation, the Þnal estimates for points belonging to multiple overlapping windows ...
متن کاملImage Classification via Sparse Representation and Subspace Alignment
Image representation is a crucial problem in image processing where there exist many low-level representations of image, i.e., SIFT, HOG and so on. But there is a missing link across low-level and high-level semantic representations. In fact, traditional machine learning approaches, e.g., non-negative matrix factorization, sparse representation and principle component analysis are employed to d...
